Itinerary

Day 1, December 5, 2019 - Hometown - Baltimore

This morning make your way to the airport for your flight into Baltimore. Upon arrival collect your luggage from the baggage claim area and proceed to the arrivals hall where you will find your driver holding a “206 Tours” sign. You will be transferred to the hotel for check-in. Enjoy some free time on your own and later this evening meet your group in the lobby of your hotel to celebrate Mass and your “Meet & Greet” dinner at the hotel. Overnight.

Day 2, December 6, 2019 - Baltimore

After breakfast, our first day of sightseeing will begin! We will make our way to the Basilica of the Assumption - America’s first cathedral also called the Baltimore Basilica, was the first Roman Catholic cathedral built in the United States and was among the first major religious buildings constructed in the nation after the adoption of the U.S. Constitution. We will then visit St. Mary’s Spiritual Center, the Spiritual Center is housed in a three-story, Federal-style building which once served as the convent for the Sisters of Divine Providence, who worked at the seminary. Now it houses the office for the site, as well as serves as the residence for the Sulpician Father working as director of the site. As in 1791 the site continues its rich tradition of ongoing spiritual and intellectual growth and development. We will celebrate Mass and, this afternoon after lunch on your own, we will continue our tour to the Cathedral of Mary our Queen. The Cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Baltimore, succeeding the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, on Cathedral Street at Mulberry Street, in downtown Baltimore. Because Baltimore is the Premier See of the United States and the downtown basilica was the nation's first Roman Catholic cathedral, it now serves as Co-cathedral of the archdiocese. We will transfer to a local restaurant for dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3, December 7, 2019 - Baltimore - Emmitsburg (MD) – Washington DC – Alexandria

After breakfast we will continue our journey to Emmitsburg to visit The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton which is a U.S. religious site and educational center in Emmitsburg, Maryland, that pays tribute to the life and mission of Elizabeth Ann Seton (August 28, 1774 – January 4, 1821), the first native born citizen of the United States to be canonized by the Roman Catholic Church. It is both a Minor Basilica and a National Shrine, we will celebrate Mass. This afternoon we will visit the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes. Above the lovely valley of Emmitsburg, situated high on the Mountainside, where nature displays itself in all its wild and picturesque glory, sits the National Shrine Grotto of Lourdes, a shrine which traces its linage to the very beginnings of the spread of Catholicism in America. Indelibly linked with Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, the Shrine is one of the oldest American replicas of the revered French shrine, dating to about two decades after the apparitions at Lourdes (1875), although the site had already been in use for more than seventy years as a place of prayer and devotion. Lunch will be your own we will continue to Washington, DC and continue with a visit to the Bible Museum. The Museum of the Bible is a museum in Washington D.C. which documents the narrative, history and impact of the Bible. The museum opened on November 17, 2017. With 1,150 items from the museum's permanent collection and 2,000 items on loan from other institutions and collections, the museum claims to have amassed one of the largest assemblies of biblical artifacts and texts in the world through collaborations with private donors, institutions, and other museums. After this visit we will continue the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4, December 8, 2019 - Alexandria – Washington DC (Consecration to Our Lady) – Alexandria

We will meet in the lobby of the hotel after breakfast and commence our day with a visit to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and national shrine located in Washington, D.C. We will celebrate Mass and Consecration to Our Lady followed by a visit to the St. John Paul II National Shrine. This afternoon, after lunch on your own, we will enter The Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America, this is a Franciscan complex in the Brookland neighborhood of Northeast Washington, D.C. Located on a hill called Mount Saint Sepulcher, and anchored by the Memorial Church of the Holy Sepulcher, it includes gardens, replicas of various shrines throughout Israel, a replica of the catacombs in Rome, an archive, a library, as well as bones of Saint Benignus of Armagh, brought from the Roman catacombs and originally in the cathedral of Narni, Italy. Our tour will continue to The Dominican House of Studies, officially the Priory of the Immaculate Conception, is a community of the Province of St. Joseph of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) in Washington, DC. It is dedicated to the theological formation of Dominican friars and the service of the church in the Archdiocese of Washington. It serves as a formation community for Dominican candidates for Holy Orders and the Dominican cooperator brotherhood. It also operates the Thomistic Institute. Our day will conclude with a panoramic tour of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Headquarters followed by dinner at the hotel and overnight.

Day 5, December 9, 2019 - Alexandria – Washington DC – Alexandria

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, we will board the bus and return to Washington DC for our full sightseeing day. Our first stop will be the United States Capitol Visitor Center (CVC), which is a large underground addition to the United States Capitol complex that serves as a gathering point for up to 4,000 tourists and an expansion space for the US Congress. It is located below the East Front of the Capitol and its plaza, between the Capitol building and 1st Street East. The complex contains 580,000 square feet of space below ground on three floors. The next stop will be entrance to the White House Visitor Center. The center holds nearly 100 artifacts that are on display, some for the first time— such as President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s desk. The White House Visitor Center is operated by the National Park Service and is housed in historic Baldrige Hall in the Department of Commerce building. The Center includes a flagship retail store for the White House Historical Association that features new and treasured items that support their mission of enhancing the understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of the White House. Then, we make our way to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. After this visit we will break for lunch on your own, following lunch we will visit the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and Arlington cemetery. The USHMM provides for the documentation, study, and interpretation of Holocaust history. It is dedicated to helping leaders and citizens of the world confront hatred, prevent genocide, promote human dignity, and strengthen democracy. We will celebrate Mass, following Mass this evening we will enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and return to Alexandria for overnight.

Day 6, December 10, 2019 - Alexandria – Chantilly – Washington DC Airport

After breakfast, we will collect our luggage and meet in the lobby of our hotel for our last pilgrimage day. We will start with Mass at the local church and transfer from Alexandria to Chantilly for our visit to The Steven F. UdvarHazy Center, also called the UdvarHazy Center, is the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum (NASM)'s annex at Washington Dulles International Airport in the Chantilly area of Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. It holds numerous exhibits, including the Space Shuttle Discovery and the Enola Gay. We will then break for lunch on your own and free time. Prior to your return to the airport we will celebrate Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary’s then to the airport for our return flight home.
