On this special tour of the Holy Land begin in Jordan visiting Amman and Petra, located amongst rugged desert, canyons, and mountains. Discover the site of ancient cities like Kerak, Medaba, and Jerash. If you desire to draw closer to Jesus of Nazareth, come, as we follow in His footsteps. Each day of your pilgrimage you will have time to renew and affirm your faith; to pray and reflect. The Scriptures will come alive as you visit Our Lord's homeland. Itinerary
Day 1: Friday, October 14th Depart for Jordan
Make your way to your local airport where you will board your overnight flight(s) to Jordan. Your meals will be served on board.
Day 2: Saturday, October 15th Arrive in Amman
Upon arrival in Amman, you will collect your luggage in the baggage claim area, and continue to the Arrival's Hall where you will be greeted by a tour guide and/or driver. Your group will transfer to your hotel in Amman in time to check-in. Celebrate Mass locally, and then enjoy dinner at the hotel before retiring for the evening. *Location of Mass will depend on arrival time.

Day 3: Sunday, October 16th Amman - Jerash - Wadi Mujib - Kerak - Petra (DAILY MASS)
Following a late breakfast drive up to Jerash. Nestled in a quiet valley among the mountains of Gilead, Jerash is the grandeur of Imperial Rome, being one of the largest and most well-preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world, outside of Italy. To this day, its paved and colonnaded streets, soaring hilltop temples, handsome theaters, spacious public squares and plazas, baths, fountains and city walls pierced by towers and gates remain in exceptional condition. Drive south with a stop at Wadi Mujib for a photo opportunity then to Kerak to visit the Crusader castle there. Continue to Petra where you will arrive around 7:00 PM, enjoy dinner, and then retire to your room for the evening.

Day 4: Monday, October 17th Petra (DAILY MASS)
Start the day with breakfast and then explore the "lost" city of Petra! This city is located amongst rugged desert canyons and mountains. Enjoy a walking tour of the former capital and trading center. Your first stop will be a visit to the Siq, a mile-long gorge that contains a number of magnificent structures that are carved into the mountains. Also see the magnificent Treasury and Roman Theatre. In the late afternoon explore the town of Wadi Musa. Dinner and overnight in Petra.

Day 5: Tuesday, October 18th Petra - Wadi Rum - Dead Sea (DAILY MASS)
This morning we drive to Wadi Rum One of Jordan and the world known natural wonder. Vast, echoing and God-like." That is how T.E. Lawrence, the British archaeologist and army officer who inspired the 1962 film "Lawrence of Arabia," described Wadi Rum. As you approach the windswept mountains that fiercely jut out of the burnt orange sand in Jordan's largest desert, it's easy to see what he meant. The landscape here is like something from another world. We enjoy a Jeep ride experience into Wadi Rum for a unique desert experience. This afternoon includes a Camel ride journey along the unique desert. Drive north to the Dead Sea for overnight.

Day 6: Wednesday, October 19th Madaba - Mount Nebo - Bethany beyond the Jordan (DAILY MASS)
This morning drive to the "City of Mosaics," Madaba. While in this city, you will visit St. George's Church which houses the oldest map of the Holy Land which includes Israel, Palestine, and Southern Egypt. Later, visit Mt. Nebo, the most revered Holy sites of Jordan. This mountain was mentioned in Deuteronomy 34, "Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah." While here, you will tour the Holy site where Moses died and was buried. Following your visit to this Sacred place drive to the ancient site of Bethany Beyond the Jordan where the baptism of Jesus is thought to have taken place. Return to your Hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Thursday, October 20th Cross the Border to Israel - Jerusalem (DAILY MASS)
Drive to Allenby Bridge to cross to Israel and drive up to Jerusalem and to the Mount of Olives, where you will be able to take in the beautiful, panoramic view of Jerusalem. Historically, the Mount of Olives was a mandatory transit point for Jesus during many iconic moments. Visit the Church of the Pater Noster which commemorates the teaching of the Lord's Prayer. Walk down the Palm Sunday route. You will have the opportunity to stop at Dominus Flevit which is a Church that commemorates where Jesus wept for Jerusalem (Luke 19:41). Continue on to Gethsemane, a garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives. Jesus brought His disciples here to pray the night before He was crucified (Luke 22:29-53). The Garden still contains trees with roots that date back to the time of Jesus. Your next stop, the Church of All Nations, is built over the "Rock of Agony". This is where Jesus prayed alone on the night of His arrest. Throughout this time, you are invited to remain in prayer and to reflect on Christ's agony that He experienced. End the day with a visit to the Church of Peter in Gallicantu where Peter denied Christ and where Jesus was imprisoned in dungeon at the house of Caiaphas.

Day 8: Friday, October 21st Qumran - Masada - Jericho - Dead Sea (DAILY MASS)
Following breakfast at your hotel, you will travel down the Jordan Valley to Qumran to see the ruins from the days of the Second Temple and also the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were written and discovered (Ezekial 47:8-10). These writings have helped further the understanding of Jewish background in Christianity. Continue as you travel through the Judean Wilderness, the site where Jesus spent His 40 days of fasting. south towards the Jordan Valley, to the oldest inhabited city in the world, Jericho (Joshua 6:12-25). In Jericho, you view the exact location, the Mount of Temptation, where the Devil tempted Jesus during his forty-day fast (Luke 4:1). Continue to Masada where you ascend by cable car to the site of the Jewish revolts last stand against the Romans. Then continue to the Dead Sea Resort to swim and relax before returning to Jerusalem for Mass, dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Saturday, October 22nd Temple Model - Ein Karem - Bethlehem (DAILY MASS)
This morning visit the Model of Jerusalem as it was at the time of Jesus and the Dead Sea Scrolls. Then visit to the village of Ein Karem to visit two historic Churches. The Church of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist is where the birth of St. John the Baptist is commemorated (Luke 1:39-80). Pray the Mystery of the Rosary as you walk up the hill to the Church of the Visitation where Elizabeth spent five months in seclusion (Luke 1:24). A short drive takes us to Shepherd's Fields (Luke 2:8). In the caves here you are still able to see the soot marks of fires that shepherds lit to keep warm. Then up to Manger Square, which stands in front of the Church of the Nativity. As you enter the Church, you will proceed down to the Grotto of the Nativity which marks the spot of Our Saviour's birth (Matthew 2:1-18). Beneath the altar, there is a silver star and a Latin inscription that states: HIC DE VIRGINE MARIA JESUS CHRISTUS NATUS (Here Jesus Christ was born to the Virgin Mary). Mass will be held here before we return to Jerusalem to visit the Garden Tomb before return to the Hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Sunday, October 23rd Jerusalem: Via Dolorosa - Church of the Holy Sepulchre - Western Wall - Rabbinic Tunnels - Mount Zion - Dormition Abbey (DAILY MASS)
This morning you will have a very early wake-up to begin the Via Dolorosa (The Way of the Cross) at the Antonia Fortress. This is the spot where Jesus was condemned to death by Pontius Pilate (John 18:28-19:16). Following His condemnation, He was taken (on the Road to Calvary) to His place of Crucifixion. Reflect upon the Stations of the Cross as you travel through the markets of the Old City to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher (Luke 23:26-33). This sacred destination is the site of Calvary (Jesus' crucifixion place) and His tomb (Luke 23: 50-55). Celebrate Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Following Mass, we will return to the hotel to enjoy breakfast. After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to visit the Western Wall, which is the last remnant of the Jewish Temple after it was destroyed in 70 A.D. Take the tour of the underground Rabbinic Tunnels. Visit the Church of St. Anne's, the home of Jesus' maternal grandparents (Anne and Joachim); and the Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus healed the crippled man (John 5:1-9). Visit the Tomb of David and The Upper Room, where Jesus and His disciples celebrated the Last Supper (Matthew 26:17-30) and where Jesus appeared to His disciples after His Death and Resurrection (Mark 16:14). From there, we will visit the Benedictine Church of the Dormition. Tradition tells us that this Church is where Mary, the Mother of Jesus, "fell asleep." At the end of this prayerful day. Return to the Hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Monday, October 24th Free Day in Jerusalem (DAILY MASS)
Following breakfast, you will have the remainder of the day free to spend at your own leisure. Back to the hotel in time for dinner.

Day 12: Tuesday, October 25th Nazareth - Cana (DAILY MASS)
Today, after breakfast we will drive north to Beit Shean, like Jerash one of the Decapolis cities in Roman times. Then to Nazareth to visit the Church of the Annunciation as well as St. Joseph's workshop - which is now known as St. Joseph's Church. Within the Church of the Annunciation, you will make our way down to the Grotto to see the remains of the house of the Blessed Mother, and where the Angel of the Lord announced the Good News to Mary. Celebrate Mass in this Church, and then continue on to Cana. It was here that Jesus performed His first miracle, changing water into wine. During your visit at the Wedding Church, married couples will have the chance to take part in the ceremony and renew their wedding vows. From there, we continue on to the Baptismal site of Yardnit for a Baptismal Service. Then continue to Tiberias, located on the Sea of Galilee for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Wednesday, October 26th Sea of Galilee (DAILY MASS)
Today, begin with a boat ride on the beautiful and scenic Sea of Galilee (Luke 5:1). Upon docking the boat, you will have the opportunity to view the remains of a boat that dates back to the time of Jesus. Following the Sea of Galilee, we continue to the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus proclaimed His great Sermon on the Mount (Luke 6:20-49). Near the Mount, is Tabgha, one of Jesus' miracle sites. At Tabgha, Jesus fed the crowd of 5,000 people from five loaves of bread and two fish (Luke 9:10-17). Also, in Tabgha is St. Peter's Primacy where Jesus bestowed Church leadership upon Peter (John 21:9). Continue to visit the birthplace of Mary Magdalene in Magdala. During the time of Jesus, this village was a prosperous fishing village that exported fish and garum (a fish sauce reduction; popular in Roman cooking). Your day concludes at Capernaum, the launching place of Jesus' ministry. In Capernaum, see the Synagogue where Jesus taught (Mark 1:21-29) and gave His sermon on the Bread of Life. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight.

Day 14: Thursday, October 27th Mt. Tabor - Mukhraka - Caesarea - Stella Maris - Jaffa - Tel Aviv (DAILY MASS)
Today, after breakfast drive to Mount Tabor, the site of the Transfiguration, with time to reflect on Christ's Humanity and Divinity, good preparation for the journey to Jerusalem where Jesus was to suffer the crucifixion and resurrection. Mass here will be at the Basilica here designed to represent 3 tents. Continue to Mukhraka; the Monastery here commemorates Elijah confronting the prophets of Baal. Drive down the coast to Caesarea Maritima, which was once the ancient capital of the Roman province. Here you will tour the archaeological remains of the Roman and Byzantine city that once dominated the region. It was here that Peter came to understand that the Good News was not for Jews only, but for the whole world. Here he baptized the Roman Centurion, Cornelius, and his family. It was also where Paul set sail for Rome, an event that eventually brought Christianity to the World. Continue to Haifa to visit Stella Maris, a Carmelite Monastery with the Madonna of Mt Carmel. Continue to ancient Jaffa where Simon the Tanner lived, and then on to Tel Aviv for dinner and overnight.

Day 15: Friday, October 28th Return Home
Following breakfast, you will have the remainder of the day free to spend at your own leisure. Transfer to the Airport in the evening for your return flight(s) home. *Return flights to the US depart between 11:30 PM on October 28th - and 12:40 AM on October 29th. One Group Transfer will be made to the Airport allowing everyone plenty of time to check in for their flights, and board.
