In Occasion of the 150th anniversary of the "dies natalis" of John Mary Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests worldwide, Pope Benedict XVI inaugurated a "Year for Priests" in June. His Holiness described this year as a time for all priests to deepen their commitment to interior renewal for the sake of a more forceful and incisive witness to the Gospel in today's world.The "Year for Priests" will conclude in 2010 with the International Meeting of Priests that has the theme "Fidelity of Christ, Fidelity of the Priest." This Meeting will include moments of prayer, reflection and sharing, as well as an audience with His Holiness in St. Peter's Square, will be developed alongside the religious-cultural itineraries of Christian Rome.

To participate in the International Meeting of Priests registration must be completed and a small fee must be paid that will provide the participating priests with all of the necessary material and information, as well as the "Vatican and Rome Card." This card will allow the participating priest to freely access all of Rome's public transportation (metro, bus, Rome-Ostia train line) system, and the meeting points of the Open Bus Roma Cristiana. In addition, translation services will be offered in the principal languages (Italian, French, English, Spanish, German and Portuguese) as well as technical support, medical assistance, and insurance for the entire period of the meeting. To help sustain the clergy and pastoral activities, as they work to rediscover and/or increase the value of their mission in spreading the message of Jesus Christ, a priest an help others in difficulty participate in the meeting through the act of solidarity. The priests who wish to participate and register for the meeting, should refer to the Secretary, who is based in Rome: a.sacerdotalis@orpnet.org. The Secretary is responsible for gathering and organizing the Registration of the International Meeting of Priests.
