SAMPLE PRELIMINARY DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY: Day 1, July 12: Depart USA This afternoon we’ll begin our WYD journey by boarding our long flight to Australia. During our flight, we’ll be served complimentary meals and beverages, and chat about our upcoming adventure.
Day 2, July 13: In Route to Sydney Day 3, July 14: Arrive -Sydney We'll arrive at Sydney International Airport, clear customs, board our touring bus, and travel to our hotel. After checking into our hotel we'll need some time to relax and adjust to huge time difference. Later, hop on a bus for the orientation sightseeing tour sure of Sydney. We'll have an opportunity to participate in music, skits, group prayer, and other activities. We'll dine at our hotel and get a good night's sleep. Day 4, July 15: Welcoming Ceremony After breakfast at our hotel, we'll continue the visit of Sydney or (pending final confirmation from WYD) head over to the Telestra Stadium for the Welcome Mass Celebration by His Eminence Cardinal Pell. We'll spend much of our time at the stadium singing and praying joining fellow pilgrims from around the world. We will return to our hotel (possibly by public transportation which has been provided as part of the package) for dinner and overnight at your hotel. (today and every day during WYD -days lunch and public transportation may be taken as it's included in our WYD registration package.)
Day 5, July 16: Catechesis Sessions, Activities, & Holy Mass Today we will learn how our faith is celebrated around the world! After breakfast at our hotel, we will attend various catechetical sessions with participating bishops and meet our brothers and sisters from different countries. Don’t know Spanish, French, or Russian? Communicating is easy when you share God’s love. We will also enjoy Holy Mass with our friends in Christ. Our tour guide, will instruct us of catechesis location for each day. (today and every day during WYD -days lunch and public transportation may be taken as it's included in our WYD registration package.) We’ll return to our hotel for dinner and good night sleep. Day 6, July 17: Catechesis Sessions & Welcoming Ceremony with the Holy Father
After breakfast at our hotel, we will attend various catechetical sessions with participating bishops and meet our brothers and sisters from different countries. In the afternoon, we join in the welcoming ceremony for the Holy Father. Day 7, July 18: Catechesis Sessions, Activities, & Stations of the Cross
Today we will learn how our faith is celebrated around the world! After breakfast at our hotel, we will attend various catechetical sessions with participating bishops and meet our brothers and sisters from different countries. Don’t know Spanish, French, or Russian? Communicating is easy when you share God’s love. In the evening, pilgrims will follow the Stations of the Cross, recalling the life and suffering of our Lord Jesus. We’ll return to our hotel for dinner and sleep.
Day 8, July 19: Vigil - Sleepover - Sleep under the stars "Down - Under" We’ll breakfast at our hotel, then pack our bags for the camping trip of a lifetime. Our group will make our way to the site of the Vigil (subject to change it may be The Olympic Village). Meals will be available as part of your WYD Registration Package. This evening, we worship together under the stars with the Holy Father and young people from across the globe. Day 9, Jul 20: - Closing Mass This morning, the Holy Father will celebrate the closing Mass of World Youth Day. Receive the Holy Eucharist in the presence of the pope – an experience you will never forget. We’ll return to our hotel for dinner and a much-needed night’s sleep.
Day 10, Jul 21: - Return to the USA (arrive back in the US on Day 9!!)
In the morning, we’ll transfer to Sydney International Airport for our return flight to the US. Our WYD pilgrimage may be over, but the memories we’ve made will last a lifetime.

Days in the Diocese, a program where pilgrims from around the world are invited into homes around the country for several days to participate in the culture, customs and faith of the Australians (as well as New Zeland) Activities during these few days include pastoral, cultural, spiritual, and volunteer opportunities managed by the local hosts. These days represent an ideal opportunity to come closer to the Church and new formed friends in this part of the world. The accommodations is simple, located in local schools or parish halls. Meals are provided by the host parish or organization. 206 Tours is unable to assist or help with any assignments or housing arrangements. Assignments are made by the WYD Planning Committee.
