Sample Day-by-Day Itinerary:
Day 1 - Depart USA
Depart from New York's JFK airport on your overnight flight to Prague.
Day 2 - Arrive Vienna
You'll be met and transferred to your hotel by our local host.
The balance of the day is free. Dinner tonight will be in a typical local Heurigen restaurant.
Day 3 - Vienna
On your morning sightseeing tour, visit the Hofburg Palace, once the seat of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and view the Belvedere Palace, Prater amusement park, the UN buildings, St. Stephen's Cathedral and other vivid reminders of the city's imperial history. After a free afternoon, enjoy an evening concert of Strauss’ and Mozart’s music.
Day 4 - Vienna
Take a guided visit to the Kunsthistorische Museum this morning. The balance of the day is free.
Day 5 - Vienna-Budapest
Today, journey eastbound by motorcoach or first class train to Budapest, often called “Paris of the East”. The afternoon is free for independent activities or optional excursions.
Day 6 - Budapest
Situated on the opposite banks of the Danube River, the former cities of Buda and Pest are linked by a series of graceful bridges. Your morning sightseeing tour includes views of the decorative Parliament building, seat of the National Assembly; Vaci Utca, a pedestrian street lined with shops and restaurants; Heroes' Square with the Millennium Memorial, 118 foot high Corinthian column dedicated to the Roman Catholic Church, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The balance of the day is at leisure.
Day 7 - Budapest
Morning sightseeing tour includes Castle Hill area, Fisherman's Bastion and Royal Palace. Afternoon free. Dinner in a typical csarda restaurant (with entertainment).
Day 8 - Budapest - Krakow
The road to Krakow winds through the lovely hills and countryside of Slovakia, past the Tatras mountains and into the great plains of Poland. A relaxing dinner in Krakow is planned upon arrival.
Day 9 - Krakow
Wawel Castle, St. Mary's Church, the Renaissance Cloth Hall and other ancient landmarks are included in our morning city sightseeing tour. The afternoon is free for strolling around the city on your own or to take an optional excursion to the Salt Mines.
Day 10 - Krakow - Warsaw
During the morning journey to Warsaw there is time for an optional side trip to one of the most somber memorials of our past, Auschwitz. After lunch break on your own, we proceed via Czestochowa, known for the blackened picture of St. Mary in the Yasna Gora Monastery, popularly called the "Black Madonna". We end our day in Poland's capital city, Warsaw. 400 km
Day 11 - Warsaw
After breakfast, we will visit this 700 year old capital of Poland is a symbol of nationhood and the will to survive against great odds. A sightseeing tour here includes a drive along the famous Royal Route from magnificent Castle Square to Lazienki Park and Palace, summer residence of the last king of Poland. Pass by the Palace of Science and Culture (known as a “wedding cake”), the Saxon Gardens, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Monument to the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto and the Barbican. Continue with the walking tour of the Old Town, Old Market Square and St. John’s Cathedral. The rest of the day is free for relaxing, shopping, a stroll through the city or an optional late afternoon Chopin concert.
Day 12 - Warsaw - USA
After breakfast, transfer to the airport to board your home bound flight.
