At the end of Edinburgh's Royal Mile and against the spectacular backdrop of Arthur's Seat, the Palace of Holyroodhouse visitors can explore the 14 historic State Apartments and the ruins of Holyrood Abbey. Day3
Wednesday October 17: Edinburgh to Glasgow

This morning depart Edinburgh and journey to St. Andrew’s. Visit St. Andrew’s Cathedral. The remains of what was Scotland’s largest and most magnificent Church still show how impressive St Andrews Cathedral must have been in its prime. St Andrews Cathedral dominated the history of the medieval Church in Scotland, from its construction in the 12th century until the Protestant Reformation in 1560. As Scotland’s largest and most magnificent medieval Church, the Cathedral was the seat of the country's leading bishops. It occupied a site used for worship since the 8th century AD, when the relics of St Andrew, Scotland’s patron saint, are said to have been brought here. The Cathedral buildings are surrounded by a graveyard, and encircled by the most complete and imposing monastic enclosure walls in Scotland. Lunch under own arrangements. Celebrate Mass at St. James Church. St. John's Kirk of Perth, is one of Scotland's most important burgh Churches. It is Perth's most ancient building, and sits at the very center of the old Royal Burgh. Its unique broach spire has dominated Perth for over 500 years. Continue on to Perth and visit Scone Palace. Once the crowning place of the Kings of Scots, Scone Palace occupies a unique position in the history of Scotland. A breathtakingly beautiful seat of power and mystery and the rightful home of the celebrated Stone of Scone - also known as the Stone of Destiny. Scone Palace is regarded as a national treasure and is revered as the historic jewel in the crown of Scotland. Today, Scone Palace is the home of the Earls of Mansfield. There is so much to see and enjoy at Scone Palace, the history, an outstanding collection of antiques, paintings and rare art-facts. Even its grounds, as splendid as the Palace itself, are renowned throughout the world. Right above the River Tay, Scone Palace overlooks the routes north to the Highlands and east through Strathmore to the coast. The Grampian Mountains form a distant backdrop, and across the river stands the city of Perth. Proceed to Glasgow and check in to your hotel. Dinner and overnight in Glasgow.

Day4
Thursday, October 18: Carfin and Glasgow

This morning travel to Carfin to spend some time at Carfin Grotto and in Carfin town. Carfin Lourdes Grotto, a Roman Catholic Shrine in Scotland dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, was created in the early twentieth century. For more than ninety years the Grotto at Carfin has been a special place of pilgrimage, prayer and grace for those who visit it. Since its inception many thousands of people, through their prayers, sacrifices, practical help and financial generosity have helped to sustain and expand the Grotto. Open 365 days a year, the Grotto is host to nearly seventy thousand visitors annually, attracting pilgrims and tourists alike from across the country and across the world. Return to Glasgow and enjoy a walking tour of the city. Discover Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, with a walking tour. From the magnificent St Mungo Cathedral to the People's Palace and Glasgow Green, explore Glasgow rich past as a religious center and one of the most important industrial cities in Britain. The Victorian architecture of the center evokes a bygone era, celebrating the style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Carry on to the Clyde banks and George's Square, the heart of this vibrant city. Dinner on your own this evening. Overnight at your hotel in Glasgow.

Day5
Friday, October 19: Glasgow to London

This morning depart for Glasgow Airport and fly to London. On arrival at London airport meet with your new driver and guide and transfer to your hotel. Check into your hotel in London. Please note check-in may not be possible until after 3pm. Enjoy your afternoon at leisure. Later in the evening, celebrate private mass at St. Etheldreda’s Church in Ely Place (subject to availability). St Etheldreda’s Church is just a stone’s throw from the noise and bustle of modern day London and it is hemmed in by the glittering wealth of Hatton Garden, where gold, silver and diamonds are traded and millions of pounds change hands daily. But amid the glamour of mammon, there stands this hidden ancient gem, a spiritual sanctuary of the Middle Ages, a haven of peace and tranquility. St Etheldreda’s Church was the town Chapel of the Bishops of Ely from about 1250 to 1570. It is the oldest Catholic Church in England and one of only two remaining buildings in London from the reign of Edward I. It was once one of the most influential places in London with a palace of vast grounds. It was like an independent state, the Bishop of Ely’s place in London or Ely Place as it is now called, and its Chapel took its name from one of England’s most popular saints of the day, Etheldreda. Return to your hotel to enjoy dinner and overnight.

Day6
Saturday, October 20: London

This morning enjoy a panoramic city tour of London including Piccadilly Square, Regent Street and Trafalgar Square. Depending on the day of the week, enjoy the Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace. Buckingham Palace is the London residence and administrative headquarters of the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom. Located in the City of Westminster, the palace is often at the center of state occasions and royal hospitality. Then celebrate private mass at Westminster Cathedral. The Cathedral site was originally known as Bulinga Fen and formed part of the marsh around Westminster. It was reclaimed by the Benedictine monks who were the builders and owners of Westminster Abbey, and subsequently used as a market and fairground. After the reformation the land was used in turn as a maze, a pleasure garden and as a ring for bull-baiting but it remained largely waste ground. In the 17th century a part of the land was sold by the Abbey for the construction of a prison which was demolished and replaced by an enlarged prison complex in 1834. The site was acquired by the Catholic Church in 1884. The Cathedral Church of Westminster, which is dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, was designed in the Early Christian Byzantine style by the Victorian architect John Francis Bentley. The foundation stone was laid in 1895 and the fabric of the building was completed eight years later. The awesome interior of the Cathedral, although incomplete, contains fine marble-work and mosaics. The fourteen Stations of the Cross, by the sculptor Eric Gill, are world renowned. Next, visit Westminster Abbey followed by St. Paul’s Cathedral. St Paul's Cathedral, the most recognizable feature of the London skyline, was completed by one of Britain’s most accomplished architects Sir Christopher Wren in 1711. The marble floors, expansive dome murals and Victorian mosaics have provided the backdrop in recent times for the state funerals of Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher as well as Jubilee celebrations. Destroyed and rebuilt after the Great Fire of London and an unlikely survivor of the Blitz, the Cathedral has earned a place among London's most popular sights. Climb into the iconic dome for stunning views across London, try out the acoustics of the Whispering Gallery and head down to the crypt to see the tombs of heavyweight historical figures like Admiral Lord Nelson and the Duke of Wellington. Return to your hotel and enjoy dinner and overnight.

Day7
Sunday, October 21: Cambridge and Walsingham

Today enjoy an excursion to Cambridge and Walsingham. On arrival in Cambridge, visit King’s College. King's College was founded in 1441 by Henry VI (1421-71) and is one of the 31 colleges in the University of Cambridge. King's has an outstanding academic record and is also world-famous for its Chapel and choir. Then continue to Walsingham and visit the National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. According to the reputed Marian apparition to Lady Richeldis, the Blessed Virgin Mary fetched her soul from England to Nazareth during a religious ecstasy to show the house where the Holy Family once lived and was then tasked to build an imitation of the home in which the Annunciation of Archangel Gabriel occurred. The building structure came to be known as the "Holy House", and later became both a Shrine and the focus of pilgrimage to Walsingham. The wooden image was carved in Oberammergau, Germany, and was once associated with the Virgin of Mercy under the venerated Marian title of Our Lady of Ransom, sometimes locally worded as "Our Lady of the Dowry". The popularity of the Marian cult gradually localized the place of devotion as "Our Lady of Walsingham". Next, celebrate private mass at Slipper Chapel. Return to London. Dinner on your own this evening. Overnight in London.

Day8
Monday, October 22: Canterbury

Today enjoy a trip to Canterbury. On arrival, enjoy a walking tour of Canterbury. Then visit Canterbury Cathedral. Founded in 602 by St. Augustine, a missionary sent by Pope Gregory the Great, Canterbury Cathedral is one of the oldest Christian sites in England and has played a big part in the history of the country. A spiritual center from Augustine’s time, Canterbury Cathedral really rose to prominence as a place of pilgrimage with the martyrdom of Bishop Thomas Beckett in 1170. The infamous slaying of the Bishop in this Cathedral on the orders of the King he had defied was the inspiration behind Geoffrey Chaucer’s seminal work Canterbury Tales. Canterbury Cathedral is a World Heritage Site where you can see an 11th century Romanesque crypt, 12th century Gothic quire and 14th century nave as well as the peaceful ruins of St. Augustine’s Abbey and St. Martin’s Church. Return to London for dinner and overnight.

Day9
Tuesday, October 23: Farewell

Following breakfast, you will board the bus that will bring your group to the Heathrow Airport for your return flights home. You will bid farewell to your new friends and to a Pilgrimage which will be in your memories and hearts for a long time to come.
